Holi Colors – Worried About Your Skin/Hair?

Natural skin/hair care tips before and after Holi:
Best way to play Holi is a dry Holi, avoid usage of water and dry colors are easy to get rid.
Wash your hair with shampoo and oil them with warm coconut oil. Apply the oil to your hair and all over your body, including hands, feet, and elbows and especially behind your ears and earlobes as these are the areas one tends to neglect.
Use a generous amount of moisturizer with sunscreen all over your body. Make sure that the moisturizer has an SPF to avoid tan from the sun!
Wear full sleeves or full pant, dark color and cotton clothes. Synthetics would be sticky or irritating to skin and jeans would be heavy after a bucket full of water thrown. Ensure that the clothes you choose to wear should cover most parts of your body.
Protect your nails by applying nail polish, and color stuck inside nails is very difficult to take off.
Avoid wearing lenses or glasses. But if you cannot do without glasses, just be careful while applying color.
Beware of stranger danger and be safe.
Apply a lip balm or Vaseline generously on lips.
After Holi –
Dust off the dry colors from your body and hair.
You can’t get rid of color immediately and apply generous moisturizer on the skin which will help to take off color from the body.
Use aloe vera gel or rose water for any rashes. If you feel any irritation or rashes on kid’s skin use rose water, these would act as soothing agents.
If you have acne, avoid scrubbing your face past Holi. Use a paste of raw milk, yogurt or besan and gently work on your face to remove the colors.
Take cold water bath instead of hot water, it will help to get rid of colors.
Wish you all a very happy and safe Holi. Enjoy!
